We treat people—not prejudices

Diversity is the best medicine

Diversity and inclusion are of central importance to us at the University Hospital Cologne. Ultimately, it is our employees who bring these values to life and give them relevance and significance in our day-to-day hospital work. In our video series “Strong People,” colleagues share how they experience diversity in their daily lives and how we all benefit from an open and respectful work environment.

Pascal Wilhelm, Certified Nurse Specialist in Intensive Care and Anesthesia Nursing

“We need to talk more with each other, rather than about each other. That’s the only way we can truly understand one another.”

As a queer person, Pascal knows from personal experience how important openness and understanding are. In the video, you’ll learn more about his day-to-day work, how he raises awareness of these issues among the next generation of nursing professionals as a clinical instructor, and how diverse teams help provide even better care for patients.

Presentations, articles, and much more

Let's talk about it

Our employees actively embrace diversity and share their experiences through various formats. Regular publications and presentations offer insights into the many ways to discuss the topic, provide information, and inspire others.

German Diversity Day

Diversity Day Event

Since the agreement was signed, we have participated in the nationwide day of action every year. The event provides University Hospital employees with an opportunity to present aspects of their work from a diversity perspective. Topics include religion, sexual orientation, social background, gender, migration, accessibility, sustainability, and mental health.

Seminar on Clinical Supervision

Diversity is part of our culture

The annual seminar “Diversity in On-the-Job Training” is designed to raise awareness of diversity issues among on-the-job trainers. The idea is that they, in particular, serve as key influencers and role models, since they convey the company’s values to trainees and new employees early on.
