As a dental assistant, you will take impressions of teeth independently and explain to patients how to care for their teeth. You organize appointments, greet patients and accompany them to their treatment. During treatment, you will hand out instruments and ensure that patients feel comfortable.

Application for the ZFA apprenticeship
You have at least a very good secondary school leaving certificate, good German language skills and are interested in medicine. You like to take on responsibility and work precisely and sensitively with your good fine motor skills. You are good at teamwork and can keep track of several tasks at the same time. Experience from an internship is a plus.

Theoretical and practical phases alternate. Your theoretical training will take place at theKarl-Schiller-Berufskolleg. For example, you will focus on dealing with patients, assisting at the treatment chair, practice hygiene, administrative work or procuring, processing and stocking materials. X-rays and radiation protection are also on the curriculum and you will learn how to assist with prophylaxis.
For example, you can attend these training courses: "ZMP (Prophylaxis Assistant)", "ZMF (Specialist Assistant)" or "Dental Hygiene". The university clinic also offers many free seminars and training courses for your professional and personal development.
